Clear, Comfortable Vision When Regular Contacts Haven't Worked

At Amplifeye Vision Center in Phoenix, specialty contact lenses are at the heart of what we do. If you've been told your eyes are "hard to fit," or glasses and regular contacts just don't give you the clear, comfortable vision you need, scleral lenses may be the answer. Dr. Waleed Alsadi takes the time to understand your eyes and design lenses made for you.

Benefits of Scleral Lenses

Scleral lenses are custom-made, and the benefits add up:
for irregular corneas that glasses can't fully correct
Sharper vision
because the lens doesn't rub on the cornea
All-day comfort
for dry, irritated eyes
Constant moisture
they stay centered and are less likely to pop out during activity
Stable fit

What Are Scleral Lenses?

Scleral lenses are large-diameter, rigid gas permeable contact lenses. Instead of resting on the sensitive cornea, they vault over it and rest gently on the white part of the eye, called the sclera.
Fluid cushion
Vaults over the cornea
Breathable material
Smooth optical surface

What to Expect During Your Fitting

A scleral lens fitting is a process, not a single appointment. Every eye is shaped differently, so we take our time to get it right.

Consultation and eye health evaluation

We review your history, check your eye health and talk about your vision goals.

Detailed measurements

We map the shape of your cornea and the front of your eye using corneal topography and anterior segment OCT.

Trial lenses

You'll try diagnostic lenses in the office so Dr. Alsadi can see how they fit and how well you see.

Custom lens order and dispensing

Your lenses are designed and made for your eyes, and we teach you how to insert, remove and care for them.

Follow-up visits

Over the next several weeks we check the fit and comfort, and fine-tune the design if needed. Most patients need a few visits to reach the best fit.
